1. The department of History was established in September 1984. It offers instruction in History to the students of B.A with a combination of Economics & Political Science. The work load in the department is 22 hours per week. Dr. D. Khajavalli, Lecturer in History is working as faculty member in the sanctioned post. He acquired Ph.D degree on History and Culture of Udayagiri Rajya from Dravidian University, Kuppam teaching experience of 23 years for undergraduate courses.

2. The number of students in the department 98 and all are women students. Through most of the students come from rural areas with illiterate/poorly literate parental background, an students exhibit zeal and enthusiasm in curricular, Co curricular and extracurricular activities and try to cope with the standards prescribed by the university from time to time. The result of the students are very encouraging with a pass percentage of 90% with First class.

3. The department exercises limited freedom to frame the syllabus and to introduce changes in curricular as it is a affiliated college to Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupathi. However the curricular was revised with effect from 2020-2021.

4. The result of the students are very commendable and on progressively increasing. The success ration in 90% during 2021-22. The drop out ratio is 10% since it is women’s college students discontinue their studies mainly because of marriage. 5. The department maintains a library with latest books and journals. News paper clipping are maintained the benefit of both students and staff.

6. To ensure active participation of students in the process of learning, the department supplements lecture method with other methods by motivating and involving students in group discussions, question and answer sessions, quiz programmes, field work & surveys. Students are encouraged to participate in seminars and celebration of important drop like world population day and the like. Advanced students are made group leaders who guide & help slow learners and junior students. Courses material in supplied where were is necessary Teaching aids like CDs, are implemented to lecture method. Guest lecturer by experts in subjects arranged.

7. By wards counseling system 20-40 students are attended to each lecture and their bio-data is collected. Problems both academic personal are attended by personal counseling. This reduces the distance between the teacher and the student.

             1. Bridge classes are conducted for non- History students and to those academically poor at the beginning of the academic year.

             2. Remedial couching classes are conducted for slow learners.

             3. Project works assigned to students to include the spirit of research among them. Educational tours are organized.

8. The faculty development programmes of the department include the following activities. a. Attending refreshers and orientation programmes. b. Attending workshops, seminars and conferences. c. By subscribing to journals. d. Involving eminent personalities and arranging guest lectures. e. Dr. D. Khajavalli has attended 3 refresher courses, 1 orientation course and attended many seminars, workshops organized by one National seminar sponsored by ICHR. f. He was life member of A.P History congress and Executive member of AP History congress, BOS members of S V University, Tirupathi.

9. The department maintains linkages with Govt Degree College, Vayalpad and Govt Degree College, Punganur.

10. Dr. D. Khajavalli has applied for Minor Research Project for which sanction is awarded. (UGC)

11. Dr. D. Khajavalli, Lecturer in History has actively participated in all extension activities of the college. He is a convener and member of various committees like All examination, Audio Visual, Nadu-Nedu, Finance, Purchasing, Academic, consumer club, Building Furniture, General repair, Research, Digital class rooms. He participated in Janmabhumi and Vanam-Manam programme of Govt of A.P. all the staff and students participate actively in Clean & Green programme on every third Saturday and keep the campus and class rooms clean. The department encourages the students to participate in all extension activities of the college like AIDS control & Awareness programmes, Clean and Green programmes, contribution to the victims of natural disasters and national cause.

12. Students are assessed continuously by way of conducting periodical tests, internal examinations pre final examinations quiz competitions, Group Discussions, seminars, question and answer sessions, assignments, interaction with the students before and after the class room teaching. They are encouraged to take up project works and nearly 10 projects they have completed. Remedial counseling classes are conducted for the academically back ward students. Students are encouraged to pose doubts/questions and read extensively to develop their creative thinking/ beyond syllabus, beyond class room and beyond examinations.

13. Most of our students are working as teachers in Govt and private schools and in various Govt offices like Police department, Revenue Department & to the students right from their entry into the college are guided and trained to face competitive examinations for higher studies and placements.

14. Significant activities by department, faculty & students. i. Dr. D. Khajavalli was question paper setter in History for a Autonomous college and Universities. ii. Conducted Historical tour to Mahabalipuram in Tamilnadu state on 2022. iii. The department of History was celebrated Aids Awareness Day, Dandi March, National Heritage Day. Students were awarded with prized who actively participated in essay writing competitions conducted in this connection. iv. The students of department of History activity participation in seminars, project works, and other extension activities like AIDS awareness programmes, collection of donations to the victims of natural disasters and contribution of donations to physically & mentally challenged children.
