Government Degree College for Women,Madanapalle is the only Women’s Institution in the entire Madanapalle Revenue Division catering to the needs of all sections of society. With the relentless and untiring efforts of late Sri T.N. Raghunatha Reddy, a local philanthropist with his sole intention of providing education to the women students in and around Madanapalle, the foundation stone of the college was laid in 1984. A majority of the students belong to marginalized sections of society. Students belonging to minority communities also constitute major part.

Thecollegeislocatedintheheartofthetownon1.04acresofland.Itwasahumble beginning with a meager 26 students in 1984. At present, there are 475 students pursuing higher education in different disciplines, both Conventional and Restructured Courses. In the pursuit of higher education and academic excellence, the college has always kept its noble mission of imparting quality education as its prime objective. With the available limited infrastructure facilities, the college has been exhibiting phenomenal growth. The legacy left behind by Sri T.N. Raghunatha Reddy is being followed by his son Dr. T.N. Harshavardhana Reddy, a practicing Doctor in the USA who continues to extend a helping hand and has donated a computer block constructed at a cost of Rupees 12 lakhs in the name of his beloved father. During his annual visits, he comes forward to provide more amenities to students. He has been liberally extending financial assistance to meritorious students with poor economic backgrounds through a monthly stipend.

Sri M.Nawaz Basha,MLA, Madanapalle,memberofCPDCandaphilanthropisthasbeenthe guiding force in offering MA Urdu by donating more than Rs.lakhs. He contributes to extending the same help and is keenly interested in the development of the institution. Sri. M.Narasimhulu, a retired faculty in the English of the College donated Rs.50000/-for the construction ofopenairStage.

The college has been reaccredited at ‘B’ with a CGPA of 2.77 under cycle 2. An amount of Rupees two crores has been sanctioned under RUSA Funds for the construction of new class Rooms and providing equipment. The Construction work is almost completed and this will provide well-furnished classroom accommodation, thus enabling us to planfortheintroduction ofPGcoursesinthefuture.

The highly learned and qualified faculty of this college have been sincerely extending services duly following student centric and innovative teaching methodologies.
